Free programs on Parkinson’s scheduled in Port Angeles starting Wednesday

PORT ANGELES — Free programs for people with Parkinson’s disease, as well as their caregivers, family and friends, are slated for this week in Port Angeles.

On Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Port Angeles Senior & Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St., Dance for Parkinson’s instructor Kayla Oakes will lead some dance and movement to music during the regular meeting of the Parkinson’s support group.

The group gathers in the dining room at the senior center every fourth Wednesday of the month.

In addition, Oakes, a specially trained teacher, leads a Dance for Parkinson’s class on the second Friday of each month, including March 13.

The class is open to people with Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis and other neurological conditions.

It is from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Sons of Norway Hall, 131 W. Fifth St., Port Angeles.

This Friday at the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., a special program titled “Living Well with Parkinson’s Disease” will be offered.

Dr. Patrick Hogan will be the speaker at 11:30 a.m.

Admission is free including lunch at the Red Lion; the program will finish at 2 p.m. Registration is required at 206-218-7756.
