PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Peninsula Veteran Community Partnership will host a free one-day health expo for women veterans living in Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.
The expo will offer exhibits and demonstrations at the Vern Burton Community Center, 308 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
It will highlight holistic well-being, promoting the theme of “Mind, Body, Spirit,” showcasing experts who will share strategies for health and wellness focusing on yoga, brain health, martial arts, recovery after head trauma and meditation.
Main stage presenters include Dr. Sandra Smith Poling, retired USAF colonel and practicing physician for more than 41 years; Jenny Stewart-Houston, director/owner of Poser Yoga, Port Angeles; Dr. Cheryle Sullivan, creator of TBI Journey Inc. and author of “Brain Injury Survival Kit: 365 Tips, Tools &Tricks to Deal with Cognitive Function Loss”; Eileen Meyer, author of “Koyopa: Contact Within: The Plumed Serpent Rises”; and Larry Vellucci, president of the Kobukan Karate Federation with the rank of Kyoshi, seventh degree black belt.
The expo is co-sponsored by Soroptimist International, the state Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration, Olympic Community Action Programs (OlyCap) and VetConnect.
The North Olympic Peninsula Veteran Community Partnership is a collaboration between government and local organizations dedicated to raising awareness and strengthening relationships on behalf of local veterans.
