Both State Parks and the state Department of Fish and Wildlife are encouraging people to enjoy the outdoors this weekend by waiving some fees.
Visitors can enter state parks for free — without Discover Passes — today in recognition of National Trail Days.
Today and and Sunday, fishing licenses will not be required of anyone to fish in Washington state.
No car passes needed
Also not required on Free Fishing Weekend, which is always the first weekend after the first Monday in June, are the vehicle access passes that come with fishing licenses or Discover Passes.

During free days at state parks, a Discover Pass still is required to be displayed on vehicles on lands managed by the state Department of Natural Resources.
State Parks free days apply only to day use, not for overnight stays or rented facilities.
Which parks open
On the North Olympic Peninsula, several state parks are open now.
They are Bogachiel near Forks, Dosewallips near Brinnon, Fort Flagler on Marrowstone Island, Fort Townsend and Fort Worden in Port Townsend, Anderson Lake State Park near Chimacum and Sequim Bay near Sequim.
A Discover Pass is a $30 annual or $10 one-day permit required on recreation lands managed by State Parks, the Department of Fish and Wildlife and the state Department of Natural Resources.
