SEQUIM — Both lanes of U.S. Highway 101 east of Sequim have been reopened following a four-vehicle collision today.
The crash occurred just after 11 a.m. at Louella Road, about four miles southeast of Sequim. Traffic had been congested west past Sequim into the Agnew area and east past 7 Cedars Casino in Blyn.
The highway was blocked until 12:16 p.m., when the two lanes were reopened. But it has taken all afternoon for congestion to lighten.
Vehicles involved were a Ford Escort, Chevrolet Cavalier, a pickup truck and a recreational van, reporter Paige Dickerson said at the scene. An earlier State Patrol report that a motor home was involved was incorrect.
Six people were injured. One was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and four others were taken to Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles. One was treated and released at the scene.
