PORT GAMBLE — Four people were injured in a three-car collision on state Highway 3 just south of state Highway 104 near the Hood Canal Bridge.
Garrett Paden, 36, of Yuma, Ariz., was traveling southbound in a 2009 Toyota Sequoia on Highway 3 about 7:27 p.m. Thursday when he swerved into the oncoming lane, struck one vehicle from behind and crashed head-on with another vehicle in the northbound lane, the State Patrol said.
Paden, who was transported to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale, was being investigated for driving under the influence and vehicular assault, the State Patrol said.
Driver Devon Carney, 36, of Port Hadlock and passenger Brandon Ledenican, 45, of Port Hadlock, were in a 2022 Hyundai Kona that was struck head-on. Both were transported to St. Michael Medical Center, and Ledenican was then flown to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, the State Patrol said. A 2-year-old boy from Port Hadlock who was in the Kona also was taken to St. Michael Medical Center, the State Patrol said.
Meanwhile, Addison Northon, 18, of Poulsbo was struck from behind in a 2003 Mazda Tribute as she was slowing for a left-hand turn, the State Patrol said. Northon was transported by family members to St. Michael Medical Center, the State Patrol said.
All people involved were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said.
The Toyota Sequoia and Hyundai Kona both were totaled and taken to the State Patrol’s District 8 bullpen. The Mazda Tribute had non-reportable damage and was legally parked at the scene, the State Patrol said.
