PORT TOWNSEND — An assessment of Fort Worden State Park, which will be used in a long-range plan to make the park a lifelong learning center, is expected to be finished by the end of the month, a group of 20 people were told Thursday.
The status of the Fort Worden State Park long-range plan was shared with those who gathered in the Fort Worden Commons.
“This is one of our bigger and more prestigious state parks, in terms of facilities and amenities,” said Peter Herzong, a State Parks planner.
“It’s nice to have the freedom to reinvent the way we do things here.”
Among the items to be reinvented are how facilities are used and how the park will be managed.
Also being reviewed is the range of programs the park offers.
