PORT TOWNSEND – The Fort Worden Advisory Committee is seeking qualified applicants for two at-large positions that are for three-year terms beginning in January.
Applications must be submitted by Nov. 6 to Vice Chair Val Stewart by email at vstewart.edmonds@gmail.com.
Each applicant must submit a letter providing contact information and outlining specific interests and skills he or she would bring to the committee and the Fort Worden community.
Beyond its six at-large voting members who represent the community, the committee includes local elected government representatives, as well as representatives of Peninsula College and the Coast Artillery Museum who also vote.
The committee includes several non-voting members, such as representatives of Washington State Parks, Fort Worden Public Development Authority, interpretive and friends groups, and Port Townsend School District.
The committee was established in 1973 by the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission “to provide assistance and recommendations for the development and operation of Fort Worden State Park.”
Its specific responsibilities include making recommendations regarding the use, management and development of Fort Worden State Park and providing a platform for public input on the use and management of the park.
The committee meets bi-monthly on the third Thursday of odd-numbered months at noon at Fort Worden State Park. Its next meeting is set for Nov. 21.
