NEAH BAY — Ben Johnson, a former Makah tribal chairman, has died.
The Neah Bay resident was 74 when he died of a heart attack at Olympic Medical Center in Port Angeles on March 31.
A celebration of life is set at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Neah Bay Community Gym.
Johnson served with the Makah Housing Authority, and as fisheries director and executive director of the Makah Tribe Youth Program, in addition to nine years on the Makah Tribal Council, several of those years as chairman.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Johnson, five children, three brothers, a sister, 30 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren, his family said.
