FORKS — An 18-year-old Forks woman was injured when she swerved to avoid a deer and crashed a Hyundai Sonata into the ditch along U.S. Highway 101 in west Jefferson County, the State Patrol said.
Anna S. Hudson was traveling northbound when she swerved to miss the animal, went into the northbound ditch and crashed the Hyundai into two small trees at about midnight Wednesday near milepost 180 about 10 miles south of Forks, according to a State Patrol collision memo.
Hudson was taken by private vehicle to Forks Community Hospital, troopers said.
A hospital nursing supervisor was not immediately available for comment about Hudson’s condition Thursday.
Hudson was wearing a seat belt and drugs or alcohol were not involved, the State Patrol said.
Hudson was cited for wheels off the roadway and driving with no insurance, troopers said.
The 2018 Hyundai was totally destroyed, the State Patrol said.
