FORKS — The West End has a good reason to chow down this weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday, Forks hosts the annual Feast of Forks at Tillicum Park, full of food vendors, games, a bubble gum blowing contest and even a food toss — though not with real food, Forks events coordinator Pat Soderlind is quick to say.
“We are not having a food fight in the park — it’s a food toss,” Soderlind said Thursday.
A Forks resident, Nancy Weaver, with the help of a local artist has crafted a giant fork and cheeseburgers and fries out of foam for the toss, said Soderlind.
The real food will be confined to traditional dining.
Vendors selling Mexican fare, elephant ears, ice cream, hot dogs, homemade clam chowder, wild blackberry pie, smoked salmon, Kettle Korn and more will be at the feast, which runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the park, just off U.S. Highway 101 at the north end of the city.
Forks’ new Open Aire Market will also be at the park both days, as will booths from Forks businesses Pacific Pizza and the Smoke House Restaurant.
