FORKS — The first launch of Space Transport Corp.’s Rubicon rocket — ultimately intended to send a person into space — is tentatively planned for Saturday on the Quinault Reservation at Queets.
“It’s going to be an exciting day for sure,” Space Transport vice president Eric Meier said Sunday of the planned unmanned test launch.
Meier said he and his business partner, Phillip Storm, will firm up their flight plans, including the launch day and time, later this week.
Storm and Meier are preparing to send up Rubicon with only two of its seven engines loaded — a one-stage blast of the engines that will take the 23-foot-long by 38-inch-diameter spacecraft to about 18,000 feet.
