FORKS — A two-year, $1.18 million replacement levy for the Quillayute Valley School District appeared to be passing overwhelmingly Tuesday night, and district officials say they expect outstanding votes to continue the trend.
“We’re ecstatic here,” School Board President Bill Rohde said as the board finished its regular meeting and prepared for an executive session late Tuesday.
“It’s always kind of heart-in-throat when it comes to levies, and Forks has come through for us,” he said.
Initial returns Tuesday night showed the levy passing with 951 votes, or 70.8 percent.
Returns for Clallam and Jefferson counties show 393 people, or 29.2 percent, voted against the levy.
