FORKS — The Quillayute Valley School Board has postponed signing an interlocal agreement on the proposed North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center until its June 4 meeting.
Board members said Tuesday they were concerned about the joint financing portion of the agreement and future financial obligations.
“Until we find out more about the financing, it seems like a gamble,’ School Board Chairman Bill Rohde said. “It seems like a gamble with $3 million of taxpayers money — several thousand of that is mine, in theory, and I need more information before deciding.”
The decision comes as Port Angeles schools officials are seeking support from neighboring districts to develop a skills center.
“There are too many unknowns,” School Board Vice Chairwoman Sue Gibbs said of the skills center proposal. “We need more information.”
