FORKS — The city of Forks is building a new “biosolid treatment facility” that will turn manure into “biohazard-free fertilizer” for use on city landscaping.
Located at 10 Nottingham Way in Forks, the new screw press and heat treatment system will allow the city’s “biosolids” to be reclassified from Class B to Class A, City Attorney and Planner Rod Fleck said.
The reclassification will allow the city to apply the resulting fertilizer to landscaping at the city airport, he said.
Class B biosolids only are allowed as fertilizer on agriculture.
