FORKS — The City Council has vetoed a proposed business license ordinance that would have tracked businesses and alerted emergency responders to potential safety hazards.
Few people in the community supported the ordinance, said Councilwoman Pat Mansfield, who voted against the proposal in Monday night’s City Council meeting but said she herself favors it.
“I think a lot of people thought that it was just another government regulation, and they’re tired of it,” Mansfield said Tuesday.
“And I can see their point.”
The ordinance would have been a first for Forks, where no tracking system exists for businesses that enter or leave the community.
