FORKS – A week of celebration of Forks’ logging heritage will continue today and run through Sunday.
Fork Heritage Days began on Friday.
At 9 a.m. today, Wednesday and Friday, Forks logging and mill tours will leave from the Forks Visitor Center, 360-374-2531.
At 7 p.m. today, “Olympic Elk,” a Disney film, will be shown at the Forks Library, 171 S. Forks Ave.
On Wednesday, the West End Business and Professional Association Pioneer Logger Award will be presented at a 7:30 a.m. breakfast meeting at The In Place, 320 S Forks Ave.
E.C Gockeerell, who was a longtime employee on the West End with the state Department of Natural Resources, will be honored.
Wednesday will also be the Forks Elementary School’s “Dress Your Heritage Day.”
A Resources open house is planned from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at the agency’s conference center, 411 Tillicum Lane.
At 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday will be the Old Timers Round Table at the Bank of America.
On Thursday, Resources will present a birthday cake and a special presentation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 411 Tillicum Lane in honor of the agency’s 50th anniversary.
Commissioner of Public Lands Doug Sutherland, will give the keynote address.
Saturday will begin with a book sale at the Forks Library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. will be an Annual Fish and Brew Contest at Huckleberry Lodge, 1171 Big Pine Way.
Saturday will end with a 7 p.m. Heritage Days performance by the Forks Community Orchestra at Congregational Church, 280 S. Spartan Ave.
On Sunday will be a 2 p.m. Golden Bough Concert featuring Celtic music at the Forks High School commons, 200 Camas St.
Tickets will be available at the door for $7 per person or $20 per family.
