Forks area reports number of break-ins

FORKS — The Smoke House Restaurant and several unlocked cars in the Forks area were broken into last week, police said.

Clallam County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian King said several flat-screen TVs, furniture and about 100 bottles of liquor were taken from the Smoke House Restaurant at 193161 U.S. Highway 101 on Thursday morning.

The restaurant has been closed for several weeks, King said.

“Based on the size of the burglary, it’s likely the suspect had to have come and gone and returned,” said King, who assisted Forks police with the investigation.

Cars on west side

At the same time, cars were broken into on the west side of Forks, he said.

“We had three car prowls and a burglary occur in the Evergreen Loop and Valley View neighborhood,” King said.

“They all appeared to be related, based on the time and proximity.”

King said there is no evidence linking the vehicle prowls to the burglary at the Smoke House.

King said the vehicles were parked in driveways and left unlocked.

He said the break-ins appeared to be “crimes of opportunity.”

“We want the community at large to remain vigilant, making sure they’re locking their cars and windows and making sure that anything suspicious is reported,” King said.

“We are actively working leads on these cases.”

A purse and prescriptions pills were taken from the vehicles.

No damage was reported.

Dispatchers received a report of a vehicle prowl at 31 Evergreen Loop on Wednesday night.

On Thursday morning, authorities received reports of a burglary at 52 Valley View Drive and vehicle prowls at 92 Valley View and 300 Evergreen Loop.

There were no subsequent car prowls or burglaries reported Friday, King said.
