The Peninsula Daily News is expanding coverage in East Jefferson County.
“We already publish a daily edition for you,” said Publisher Terry Ward, “and now we are expanding our local news coverage even further.”
Joining reporter Jeannie McMacken at the PDN’s Port Townsend office is Brian McLean, managing editor for Jefferson County.
McMacken has been covering issues and events in East Jefferson County for the Peninsula’s daily newspaper for more than a year, while McLean has recently joined the team after working a short stint at the Port Townsend Leader.
McLean is a seasoned journalist, having led the Peninsula Gateway of Gig Harbor and The Puyallup Herald as managing editor and publisher.
Before that he worked as a sports reporter at The Olympian and the Peninsula Gateway. During his high school years, he worked part-time in sports at the PDN in Port Angeles.
“I’m proud of Sound Publishing and the Peninsula Daily News for its commitment and investment in community journalism,” McLean said. “There isn’t a better place to go to be informed on a variety of issues that directly impact residents of East Jefferson County.”
Together, McMacken and McLean will enhance coverage of breaking news, business, arts, government, the maritime industry, schools, sports and other aspects of this unique area.
We plan to add one more journalist to the team here at 1939 E. Sims Way, all focused on giving you accurate, concise news and colorful features daily.
We also aim to be the premiere Jefferson County news outlet online.
A Facebook page with posts directly related to Jefferson County news is now available at www.facebook.com/PDNJeffCo. Of course, Jefferson County news also is included on the PDN website at PeninsulaDailyNews.com and the older PDN Facebook page.
In addition to the increased local content, Port Townsend and Jefferson County businesses also will now have the ability to zone their advertising and deliver their marketing message to Jefferson County readers.
