PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Police Department was kept very busy over the weekend with a long string of unrelated calls and two foot chases resulting in arrests.
“We’ve been extremely busy. It’s been this way since late April,” said Sgt. Jesse Winfield.
Port Angeles officers respond to 62 calls Friday, 72 on Saturday and 54 on Sunday, according to police call logs.
The log does not include violations the officers witnessed themselves or the chases, which Winfield said were each triggered when officers saw individuals they knew had active warrants.
Police dog Bogie and his handler, Officer Trevor Dropp, were involved in both weekend foot chases, Winfield said.
Winfield said that at 7:47 a.m. Saturday, an officer spotted Shawn Michael Clark, 28, of Port Angeles in the neighborhood above Peninsula College on East Lauridsen Boulevard.
“He jumped and ran,” Winfield said.
Clark was wanted on a felony drug court warrant.
Officers and Bogie tracked Clark through several yards and eventually found him when he “popped out” in the area, he said.
Clark was booked into the Clallam County jail and remained there Monday.
At 3:30 p.m. Sunday, officers spotted Dustin Feris, 30, of Port Angeles riding as a passenger in a car in the area of Francis and Sixth streets.
He was known to the officers as having warrants, Winfield said, though information on charges attached to the warrant was not immediately available.
Feris and the car’s driver, Port Angeles resident Jarod Dean Alberts, 31, ran from the car.
Feris was able to get away and was still being sought by police Monday.
Police described Feris as 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds. He has brown hair and tattoo lettering on the side of his neck.

Alberts climbed down into the Peabody Creek canyon between Vine and Francis streets, and members of the Port Angeles Police Department, Clallam County Sheriff’s Office and the Elwha Police Department converged on the area to create an area of containment, Winfield said.
Bogie tracked Alberts across the creek eastward, and he was caught near the corner of E. Sixth and Albert streets.
“He popped out from where he was hiding when he saw that we were breaking down containment,” Winfield said.
An officer saw Alberts emerge and made the arrest, he said.
Winfield said Alberts had felony theft warrants out of Everett.
Alberts was booked into the Clallam County jail on the warrants and charges of obstructing a law enforcement officer.
On Monday he was being held on $6,000 bail.
