PORT ANGELES — City police arrested a 35-year-old Port Angeles man in the back of Albertsons on Wednesday after a short foot pursuit through the grocery store.
Port Angeles police had probable cause to arrest Jerry W. Cline for investigation of burglary, malicious mischief and fourth-degree assault/domestic violence, Deputy Chief of Police Brian Smith said.
“He spotted our officers and took off running through the store with two of our officers in foot pursuit,” Smith said.
“Both officers used Tasers and took him into custody without anyone getting injured.”
Medics were called to the store at 114 E. Lauridsen Blvd. in Port Angeles as a precaution, Smith said.
Cline was booked into the Clallam County jail at 5:48 p.m. for investigation of resisting arrest, assault, residential burglary, malicious mischief, felony harassment, unlawful imprisonment, delivery of a controlled substance in a public place and violation of a court order.
Police had been actively looking for Cline since May 25, Smith said.
Cline tried to prevent the officers from catching him by pulling down some display items, Smith said.
No damage was reported at the store.
