SEQUIM — For its 20th anniversary, one of the original Sequim lavender farms is bringing back a lavender festival community event from years past, encouraging visitors and locals alike to experience Olympic Lavender Heritage Farm near Dungeness Bay for “Olympic Lavender Rock, Roast and Toast.”
A $10 entrance donation is suggested per adult, with the majority of the proceeds benefiting the North Olympic Land Trust.
Marco and Christa Hermosillo, owners of Olympic Lavender Heritage Farm, will host a summer celebration focused on farmland preservation.
Said Hermosillo: “Our farm is one of the original lavender farms that began the lavender revolution in Sequim and Dungeness with the purchase and creation of the main lavender farm in 1995.
“We have added three more field locations for lavender fields in Dungeness and are now up to 14 acres, and we’re just getting started.”
This year’s event is slated to start with the Sunset Salmon BBQ and Wine and Beer Garden at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, right after the Olympic Lavender Festival ends for the day.
Owner Neil Conklin of Bella Italia in Port Angeles has collaborated with the Hermosillo family to bring back the restaurant’s Sunset Salmon Dinner BBQ, served with Nash’s local organic vegetables. Wines, beers and specialty drinks will be available.
Joy in Mudville, a homegrown Olympic Peninsula progressive old-time bluegrass group, will perform at 6:30 p.m.
