SEQUIM — Gov. Jay Inslee has ordered flags flown at half-staff today in honor of Capt. Charles “Chad” Cate who died in the line of duty.
The Clallam County Fire District 3 captain was found dead in his bunk on Jan. 12.
He was 46.
A memorial service for Cate is planned at 12:30 p.m. today at Sequim High School, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
Some 1,000 people are expected.
Neighboring fire districts will oversee District 3 during the memorial.
