PORT TOWNSEND — JeffCo Repair will sponsor five workshops where fixers will repair electronics, small appliances, broken jewelry and bicycles, sharpen dull knives and garden tools and mend clothing.
The free events, sponsored by the Port Townsend Marine Science Center, with the support of Local 2020’s Beyond Waste action group, are meant to encourage the exchange of repair skills while diverting useable items from landfills.
Repair workshop dates include from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Quimper Grange, 1219 Corona St., Port Townsend; from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 22 at the Brinnon Community Center, 306144 U.S. Highway 101, Brinnon; from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 8 at the Cotton Building, 607 Water St., Port Townsend; from noon to 3 p.m. April 26 at the Quilcene Community Center, 294952 U.S. Highway 101, Quilcene; and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 24 at the Jefferson County Public Library, 620 Cedar Ave., Port Hadlock.
