PORT ANGELES — The state Fish and Wildlife Commission will meet Friday and Saturday in Port Angeles.
The meeting is set to be held in the Red Lion Hotel, 221 N. Lincoln St., and will start at 8 a.m. both days.
The commission is a panel of citizens appointed by the governor to set policy for the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
The meeting agenda includes a public hearing on proposed land transactions, an update on elk in Skagit County and a review of the 2019 legislative session with requested legislative proposals for the 2020 session.
There will also be public hearings and a commission decision on the status of tufted puffins, Oregon silverspot butterflies and grizzly bears. Staff will also present a tufted puffin recovery plan to the commission.
Northwest Straits Commission staff will provide a briefing on their collaboration with Fish and Wildlife in conducting marine conservation and monitoring projects.
