The first half of property tax payments for this year are due Friday.
Payments can be mailed, placed in drop boxes, paid on the Internet or by phone or in person at treasurers’ offices in courthouses in Clallam and Jefferson counties.
Mailed payments must be postmarked Friday.
Payments postmarked or made later than Friday will be subject to 1 percent delinquent interest based on the balance due.
As of June 1, an additional 1 percent interest and 3 percent penalty will be charged.
A 2.75 percent fee is charged by the service provider for credit card payments.
The second half of the annual payment is due by Oct. 31.
Jefferson County
Taxes may be paid in person at the Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office at the courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Also, five drop boxes are available. They are:
• Drive-in box in the rear parking lot of the courthouse.
• Bank of America, 734 Water St., Port Townsend.
• Bank of America, 10 Oak Bay Road, Port Hadlock.
• Columbia Bank, 9500 Oak Bay Road, Port Ludlow.
• US Bank, 14890 Center Road, Quilcene.
Credit card payments may be made online at www.officialpayments.com or by phone at 888-272-9829.
Instructions for both are on the back of the tax statement.
Credit cards also are accepted at the counter at the Jefferson County Treasurer’s Office.
Electronic checks may be used to make payments. Go to www.co.jefferson.wa.us/treasurer for instructions.

Clallam County
Payments can be made in person at the Clallam County Treasurer’s Office in the courthouse at 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
A drive-up drop box is available in front of the courthouse.
Payment drops also are available in Sequim and Forks.
They are:
• In Sequim at the Department of Motor Vehicles Office in Sequim Plaza, 1001 E. Washington St. Karen Shewbert’s office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• In Forks, payment may be dropped off at the District Court, 502 E. Division St., during office hours, or in its drop box.
Payments at these locations must be in check or money order form. No cash will be accepted.
Those at the Sequim and Forks payment drops can’t answer inquiries or give receipts. That is done only in the courthouse office in Port Angeles.
Payments also can be made by credit card or electronic check.
Credit card payments by phone can be made by dialing 888-272-9829. The Clallam County jurisdiction code is 5603. Press 1 for “Real Estate.”
