PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Film Festival’s Guess the Guest contest starts today with the announcement of the first of three clues.
Each year, the Port Townsend Film Festival, scheduled this year for Sept. 15-17, hosts an acting or director star as a special guest.
The summertime contest will award a festival-level pass to the winner, drawn from those who identify the 2017 special guest. The pass will include admission to all the film screenings for the 2017 festival and a salmon dinner on Taylor Street.
The guest and the winner of the Guess the Guest contest will be announced July 5.
The first clue is:
Ben Franklin starts our quarry’s trail
for this year’s guest, behind words’ veil
who first pursued the mighty pen
in dawning East and back again
‘til, freeway born, the Siren story
of angels lost set path to glory
whereafter, (Summer’s Love still blooms)
Cecelia, saintly, blessed the tunes.
The next clue will be released June 21 and the final clue June 28.
The clues will be released in the Peninsula Daily News and on the Port Townsend Film Festival’s Facebook page.
To submit a guess, email info@ptfilmfest.com; mail it to the Port Townsend Film Festival office at 211 Taylor St., Suite 401-A, Port Townsend, WA 98368; or stop by the PTFF offices.
A name, mailing address, phone number and email address must be included in each submission.
Past special guests have included Chris Cooper, who was nominated for a Tony this year for his performance in “A Doll’s House, Part 2”; Beau Bridges; Bruce Dern; and last year’s guest, Karen Allen.
Guesses will be accepted starting today.
