PORT ANGELES — A back porch of a Port Angeles home caught fire but was quickly extinguished on Monday. There were no injuries.
The Port Angeles Fire Department (PAFD) responded to the fire about 1:40 p.m. in the 200 block of West Fifth Street.
The owner had tried to extinguish the fire, but when firefighters arrived, the fire was still burning on the covered porch and parts of the exterior of the house, according to a press release. All occupants had safely evacuated.
PAFD sent an engine, a ladder truck and a rescue unit. Clallam County Fire District 2 (CCFD2) sent an engine as well. Thirteen fire department personnel were on scene.
The units extinguished the fire before it extended into the building’s interior. One individual was evaluated for smoke inhalation, but no one was harmed.
The porch, porch roof and first and second floor exterior had smoke and fire damage.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the press release.
