PORT ANGELES — A fire broke out in the Evergreen Collision Centers salvage yard at about 7:45 p.m. Sunday.
The fire destroyed two small motor homes which had already been stripped of parts, all fuels and batteries, Clallam County Deputy Mike Backes said.
No one was injured.
The fire is suspected to be arson, he said.
“There is no apparent reason why anything would spontaneously ignite out there,” he said.
“All the fuels were taken out and all the batteries — there is no combustion source.”
The auto body shop at 216 N. Gales St. owns the salvage yard adjacent to it.
Clallam County Fire District No. 2 sent two engines to put out the fire.
It was mostly out by about 9 p.m.
The fire was partly contained because the items in the salvage yard were separated into various piles, which helped prevent the fire from spreading, Backes said.
If anyone has any information on the fire they should phone 360-452-4545.
