PORT ANGELES — Crews from both the Port Angeles Fire Department and Clallam County Fire District No. 2 responded to a fire this morning (Tuesday) that had struck a single-family home on Fairmount Avenue in west Port Angeles.
City Fire Chief Ken Dubuc said crews were called to the single-story house in the 4000 block of Fairmount Avenue, near the intersection of Hazel Street, at about 11:15 Tuesday morning and arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the home.
Dubuc described the fire as “pretty heavily involved.”
Bright orange flames and billowing black smoke could be seen emanating from the home’s windows.
Dubuc said witnesses at the scene said they had seen people leave the home between 10 and 15 minutes before the fire was reported.
No other structures were being threatened by the fire, Dubuc said.
