PORT ANGELES — A pet knocking over an unattended candle sparked a house fire that destroyed a bedroom and caused widespread smoke damage at the 2200 block of E. Sixth Ave., east of Port Angeles today, fire fighters said.
No one was injured in the blaze, which was reported at 11:27 a.m., said Clallam County Fire District No. 2 in a prepared statement.
Bob and Marilyn Love lived in the home, the district said.
Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming through the bedroom window, and smoke coming from the eaves at both ends of the building, the district said.
The fire was contained to the bedroom. Fire fighters estimated damage at $30,000.
The fire department arrived with two pumpers and two tenders. An ambulance and Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies were also on the scene.
