Film festival online fundraiser begins Friday

PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Film Festival’s Academy Awards fundraiser begins at noon Friday online at www.ptfilmfest.com.

Auction items include Hollywood memorabilia, including a “Brokeback Mountain” poster signed by Oscar-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal.

Other items include local art, a deep tissue massage, a garnet gold ring worn by actress Karen Grassle, computer tech support, a stained glass panel, 1934 framed Audubon print, gourmet dinner for six, one year’s worth of artisan cheese and more.

All silent and live auction items will be listed in the online catalog, which can be downloaded, with bidding instructions, from the Web site or requested from the film festival office in the Mount Baker Block Building, 211 Taylor St., Suite 33.

Auction item bids may be made at the event or by proxy beginning Friday. The catalog has information on proxy bidding.

To complement the auction, the film festival hosts a March 5 champagne reception and eight-course small-plate dinner during the live broadcast of the 78th Academy Awards.

Tickets that include both the dinner and champagne reception are on sale at $50 per person.

Tables for groups of eight people are $500. Reservations are required.

Call 360-379-1333 because space is limited. Arrangements also can be made at the festival office.

The 2006 Port Townsend Film Festival takes place Sept. 15-17.
