PORT ANGELES — A man and woman held in the shooting death of a Port Angeles man during Friday’s severe windstorm continue to be jailed in lieu of $250,000 bail each.
Kenneth A. Owens, 39, and Niccole M. Charles, 35, both of Port Angeles, made initial appearances before Clallam County Superior Court Judge Ken Williams on Monday.
But neither has been formally charged in connection with the killing of Zane L. Bebee, 32.
Bebee’s body was found underneath a large tree branch on the porch of a coach in the Welcome Inn Travel Trailer Park, 1215 W. U.S. Highway 101.
Assistant Port Angeles Police Chief Terry Gallagher said an autopsy performed Saturday confirmed that Bebee died of a gunshot wound to the upper torso.
The Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has until Thursday to file any charges against Owens or Charles.
Owens is being held in the county jail for investigation of second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
Charles is in jail for investigation of first-degree rendering criminal assistance and first-degree theft.
