Field Hall fundraising at 89 percent of goal

PORT ANGELES — The Field Arts & Events Hall was nearly 90 percent funded as of the end of last week.

Executive Director Steve Raider-Ginsberg said Friday that the Field Hall was 89 percent funded as of Friday, leaving about 10 percent remaining to reach its $50 million goal.

“The bulk of that funding has gone towards the construction of the building, which has a guaranteed max price of $42 million from Mortenson construction,” Raider-Ginsberg said. “We’re about five weeks out from construction being complete.”

The bulk of the funding — $40.4 million — has been from individual donations, Raider-Ginsberg said.

It also has received federal, state and local government funding: $4.8 million in state funds, $1.1 million in federal, $1.2 million from regional foundations and $894,500 from local governments, including more than $600,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds.

The state also has awarded an additional $2 million in its capital budget.

“We have also been recommended by Senator (Maria) Cantwell for a $4 million appropriation in the pending federal budget,” said Jane Claypool, Field Arts & Events Hall marketing director.

Field Hall on its website designated four women who gave large donations as “Field Hall Angels.”

• The late Donna Morris provided the initial $9 million as a behest specifically for a performing arts center. The Donna R. Morris theater is named to honor her,Dorothy Field, Pat Donlin, and Mary Whitmore.

• Dorothy Field purchased and donated the $1.43 million, 1.6-acre waterfront property in Port Angeles to be the site of the performing arts and events center. She also has contributed additional funding and established an endowment for operational funding. In honor of her and her late husband, the building was named Field Arts & Events Hall (Field Hall).

• The Pat Donlin Lobby is named after the “Microsoft Millionaire” who gave Field Hall $1 million in stock in September 2018 and since then, has given an additional $1.5 million.

• Mary Whitmore’s generosity is remembered through the balcony section named for her.
