PORT ANGELES — More than 50 decorated trees will be auctioned off at the Festival of Trees Gala on Friday night, and visitors throughout the weekend can view them at the Vern Burton Community Center.
Tickets are sold out for the Teddy Bar Tea and gala on Friday, but other opportunities to participate are available this weekend at the center at 308 E. Fourth St.
On Saturday is the Senior Breakfast at 8:30 a.m. The sit-down breakfast is sponsored by The Lodge at Sherwood Village, The Fifth Avenue and Sherwood Assisted Living. Tickets are $12 for adults. Limited tickets will be available at the door.
Family Days is set from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
The public can view decorated trees and wreaths and enjoy musical entertainers, and children can play in activity areas. Family Days, presented by Avamere Olympic Rehabilitation of Sequim, is $6 per person, with children younger than 8 free.
New this year will be a collection of gingerbread houses. A dozen houses created by local designers will be on display during Family Days only.
Children will be able to decorate their own gingerbread houses and have their photos taken with Santa.
Also new this year is an after-hours party at downtown establishments following tonight’s gala.
Now in its 27th year, the annual event is a three-day fundraiser for the Olympic Medical Center Foundation.
It is expected to collect $110,000 this year, foundation Executive Director Bruce Skinner said.
