Individual Clallam County property owners who suffered damage in the Dec. 2-3 storm that blew across and flooded parts of Western Washington became eligible Wednesday for Federal Emergency Management Agency relief.
In addition, Jefferson and Clallam counties became eligible for federal assistance to repair “public infrastructure” – roads, bridges, water control facilities, buildings and equipment, utilities, and parks, recreational and other facilities – damaged or destroyed in the storm.
Infrastructure damage in Jefferson County was estimated last week at $5.3 million. In Clallam, it was put at $750,000.
For private property owners who suffered storm or flood damage, Clallam joined Kitsap County on Wednesday on the federal approval list for individual assistance, including checks for home repairs, small-business loans, housing assistance, unemployment checks, legal services and crisis counseling.
Grays Harbor and Lewis counties were approved by FEMA for private assistance on Dec. 9 and Mason, Pacific and Thurston on Dec. 15.
