SEQUIM — Planning Commission member Forest Faulkner has resigned from the advisory body, citing health and personal reasons.
Faulkner has served about 18 months on the commission.
His resignation letter also included comments critical of recent Planning Commission activity, but in a subsequent interview he said the statement shouldn’t be viewed as a rebuke.
His resignation took effect Sept. 12. The city will accept applications to fill the vacancy through Oct. 14.
Faulkner’s letter said that he recently turned 77.
“I have decided,” he wrote, “that I can no longer devote my time, interest or enthusiasm in meaningless uncontrolled dialogue and activity that appears to have taken over the Planning Commission.”
When asked about that comment, Faulkner said it was a “personal thing.”
“That wasn’t really meant as a criticism,” he said.
“I just don’t have time for that any more.
“I’m just too old. Part of it is my health and part of it is my age.”
