SEQUIM — A family of eight is homeless after a Saturday afternoon fire, a Clallam County Fire District 3 spokesman said.
Although the house at 277 Pierson Road looks relatively unscathed from the outside, Lt. Bob Rhoads, fire district spokesman, said that the 4 p.m. fire “totally destroyed the contents.”
No one was home at the time. No one was hurt in the fire.
Living in the house west of Sequim were owner Bill Stollar, his daughter, Kelly Morrison, a relative, Katherine Hargiet and five children, Rhoads said.
The Olympic Peninsula Chapter of the American Red Cross was assisting them on Saturday, Rhoads said.
A neighbor, Chuck Fink, reported the blaze to the fire district when he saw smoke and flames coming from the kitchen window, Rhoads said.
When firefighters arrived, flames were burning in 75 percent of the structure, he added.
Firefighters do not know how or where the fire started.
The fire remained under investigation Saturday.
