Government meetings across North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will hear an update on current and future operations of the Serenity House from Sharon Maggard during their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session at 9 a.m. Monday will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

• An personal services agreement with the Clallam County Economic Development Council for $123,000.

• A legislative update.

• An amended contract with Cascadia Consulting for an additional $8,499 to complete the county’s climate action plan.

• A call for bids for construction of the McDonald Creek fish passage and irrigation improvement project.

• An updated memorandum of agreement with Washington State University Clallam County Extension.

• Letters to the state House and Senate expressing concern over the proposed developmental disability budget.

• An agreement with the Center for Children and Youth Justices for a 5-year grant of $425,000 to fund an early childhood court community coordinator for the Superior Court.

• A purchase order with CDW Government for $167,546 for replacement computer network switches for the courthouse and the juvenile services building.

• A letter of support to our congressional delegation for the Port of Port Angeles’ proposed construction of new hangars and expanded fuel storage at Fairchild International Airport.

• An amended agreement with the Department of Social and Health Services’ Developmental Disabilities Administration for an additional $546,167 of funding for local programs providing services to persons with developmental disabilities.

• Agreements with the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau for $870,000 in lodging tax funds to develop their 2023 Olympic Peninsula tourism strategic plan and to promote year-round tourism.

• An agreement with the state Military Department for renewal of an annual emergency management preparedness grant.

• Opening of requests for proposals for 2023 homelessness program funding for the period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2025.

• A call for bids to install electric vehicle charging stations at the courthouse; bids will be opened at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 18.

• Resolutions appointing several community members to various volunteer boards and commissions.

Jefferson County

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a workshop regarding the use of opioid settlement funds when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The hybrid meeting is at the commissioners chambers in the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend.

The commissioners will hear a public heath and emergency management update from Dr. Allison Berry and Willie Bence at 9:45 a.m., open bids for the publication of county notices and culvert replacement on Snow Creek Road and consider a letter to the Department of Natural Resources regarding the Dabob area inter-trust exchange.

Items on the consent agenda include a call for bids for phase I site preparation at the Port Hadlock wastewater facility; a notice of a 45-day comment period for Title III projects; a five-way agreement with the Economic Development Council Team Jefferson, city of Port Townsend, Port of Port Townsend and Jefferson County Public Utility District No. 1; several agreements for youth cannabis and tobacco prevention programs; an agreement with the Jefferson County branch of the Olympic Peninsula YMCA for $39,900 for a community navigator, several resolutions related to appointments, resignations and reappointments to various volunteer boards and commissions.

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will conduct a workshop at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The Strait of Juan de Fuca Ecosystem Recovery Network will discuss Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding opportunities for Puget Sound recovery when they meet from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.
