EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Regional meeting on forests, water supply requested

Government meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider a request from the city of Port Angeles to attend a regional meeting regarding Elwha forests and city water supply during their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The hybrid meetings are in the county commissioners meeting room in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

• An amended agreement with the Clallam Economic Development Council to align the agreement with actual expenditure of American Rescue Plan Act funds spent in preparation for closing the EDC’s Lifeboat grant program.

• An update on American Rescue Plan Act expenditures for the third quarter of 2023.

• A request for proposals and request for qualifications for hearing examiner.

• An agreement with Trout Unlimited for two fish barrier removal projects under Wisen Creek Road and another under Swede Road.

• An agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture for a $125,00o community wildfire defense grant for the emergency management division of the Sheriff’s Office.

• An update on the Washington Counties Risk Pool from Derek Bryan.

• A memorandum of understanding with the city of Forks regarding the Opportunity Fund Program and the $2,375,610 award to the city for its waste water treatment plant.

• A letter of support for Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County’s Department of Commerce community housing infrastructure program grant to fund a 50-unit development in Sequim.

• An update on the Conservation Futures Program Advisory Board.

• An agreement with the state Recreation and Conservation Office $25,000 to purchase new canoes for Camp David Jr. and improve aquatic safety at the camp.

• A public hearing regarding the proposed amendment of the county’s opportunity fund program.

• A public hearing regarding debatable budget emergencies.

• resolutions regarding several budget reductions, revisions and supplemental appropriations.

Association of counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.

Clallam planning

The Clallam County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing regard the park model placement ordinance when they meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
