EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Jefferson commissioners to consider I-2117

Meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula.

A discussion about caseload standards, a public hearing regarding Initiative 2117 and a report on a recent power outage will be before Peninsula boards and commissions this week.

Clallam County commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will discuss a letter to clerk of the state Supreme Court regarding proposed changes to caseload standards for public defenders during their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners also will meet jointly with the Port of Port Angeles at 11 a.m. Monday and will conduct a budget workshop at 1 p.m. Monday.

• An amended agreement with the state Office of the Secretary of State for funding authorized under the Help America Vote Act of 2002 for the purpose of improving elections.

• An agreement with state Department of Transportation to inspect bridges in Clallam County.

• A memorandum of understanding with Flaura’s Acres Homeowners Association to establish a Utility Local Improvement District.

• An amended agreement with the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs for administrative fees support provided by Olympic Peninsula Community Clinic.

• A call for bids for the Old Olympic Highway resurfacing project; sealed bids must be received by 10 a.m. Nov. 26.

• Resolutions to adopt several budget reductions and several supplemental appropriations.

• A subaward of $49,938 in grant funding from the state Department of Agriculture to the Port Angeles Food Bank for a large protein purchase to be distributed among the food banks within Clallam County.

• The subaward of $62,500 in Community Development Block Grant funding to the Center for Inclusive Enterprise for a North Peninsula Microenterprise Assistance Program for both Clallam and Jefferson counties.

• A public hearing regarding several debatable emergencies.

• An agreement with Swift Plumbing and Heating for $484,079 to replace the chiller at the Juvenile Services Facility.

• A resolution authorizing the Auditor to void outstanding claims and warrants, totalling $14,368, dated from July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.

• Agreement amendment 1 with state Department of Transportation for the Clallam Slough bridge replacement project.

• An amended agreement with Clallam County Parks, Fair and Facilities to extend the completion date on the 2024 Lodging Tax funding request for Clallam Bay County Park.

• Amended agreements with Peninsula Housing Authority and the Sequim Food Bank regarding unspent American Rescue Plan Act funds.

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a public hearing regarding a proposed resolution opposing Initiative 2117 when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The hybrid meeting will be at the commissioners’ chambers in the Jefferson County courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

The commissioners also will discuss a draft sewer utility code during a special meeting at 5 p.m. at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave., Port Hadlock.
