EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Commissioners to discuss Dungeness off-channel reservoir

Meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula

The Clallam County commissioners, Port Angeles City Council and Olympic Medical Center board of commissioners are scheduled to meet next week along with the Clallam Charter Review Commission and other government agencies.

Clallam County commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will hear an update on the Dungeness off-channel reservoir project from Steve Gray, Rhiana Barkie and David Rice during their weekly work session on Monday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Agenda items include:

• A resolution appointing Karen Casey to the Revenue Advisory Committee.

• A discussion regarding a project to assess needs and develop a conceptual design for the Hood Canal Bridge project.

• An agreement with Security Services Northwest for $130,820 to provide courthouse security.

• An agreement with MDCommerce for $5,000 plus 8 percent of gross receipts to bill Medicaid using the county’s EPIC medical records system for eligible inmates in the county jail.

• A memorandum of understanding with Peninsula Behavioral Health for the delivery of pre-release health care services at the county jail.

• Discussion regarding the proposed allocation of $50,000 for 2025 and $100,000 annually of additional opioid settlement funds to the county’s harm reduction health center for services and supplies.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. July 22 regarding a proposed ordinance to repeal and replace Clallam County Code Chapter 27.08: Open Space and Public Benefit Rating System.

• Agreement with Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County for $800,000 in Opportunity Funds to develop the Lyons Landing affordable housing site in the Carlsborg area.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. July 22 regarding proposals to authorize Opportunity Fund grants totaling $384,184 to provide matching funds for city of Forks, $60,000; the Port of Port Angeles, $116,000; Composite Recycling Technology Center, $100,000; and Clallam EDC, $108,184.

• Discussion and next steps on regarding preliminary discussions about the 2026 budget process.

• A request for approval and fee waiver for the Clallam Bay Sekiu Fun Days 2025 assembly permit.

• A bid award letter to Bruch and Bruch Construction, Inc. for the Clallam Bay, Middle Point, Snobhill Lift Station Restoration Project and authorization for the chair to sign the contract.
