EYE ON THE PENINSULA: Clallam commissioners to discuss Bogachiel restoration

Meetings across the North Olympic Peninsula.

Bogachiel River restoration, an inactive drainage district and several school boards will meet this week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

Clallam County Commissioners

The three Clallam County commissioners will hear a presentation from Caroline Walls regarding Lower Bogachiel River restoration and flood hazard reduction during their weekly work session Monday.

The commissioners’ work session at 9 a.m. will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which will start at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The commissioners also will discuss the purchase or sale of real estate and litigation or potential litigation in executive session during a special meeting at 3 p.m. Monday.

• A resolution authorizing a $2 million expenditure from the Chemical Dependency/Mental Health Fund reserve for a 36-unit, multi-family permanent supported housing facility project at Second and Oak streets in Port Angeles.

• A call for a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 17 regarding a proposed amendment of Clallam County Policy 450 Use of County Vehicles and Personal Vehicles on County Business in regard to coroner personnel.

• A discussion regarding requested changes to county speed limits.

• An amended agreement with the state Department of Transportation for an additional $1,425,400 in funding for the south Airport Road resurfacing project.

• A resolution reclassifying five properties into the open space tax program.

• A resolution authorizing the continuation of the temporary change in hours for the Department of Community Development, Environmental Health and Public Works service counter.

• A pre-application questionnaire with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for a $400,000 topobathymetric lidar data grant.

• A discussion regarding the county’s legislative priorities.

• An amended agreement with the state Recreation and Conservation Office for North Olympic Peninsula Lead Entity.

• An amended agreement with the Clallam County Economic Development Council for up to $230,000 for economic impact and feasibility studies.

• Resolutions for budget revisions and supplemental appropriations and a public hearing regarding debatable budget emergencies.

Jefferson County commission

The Board of Jefferson County Commissioners’ meeting regularly scheduled for Monday has been canceled.

The three Jefferson County commissioners will discuss the status of the currently inactive Chimacum Drainage District during a special meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday.
