Government meetings across North Olympic Peninsula

The boards of local government agencies will meet next week on the North Olympic Peninsula.

 Clallam County

The three Clallam County commissioners will consider several resolutions and conduct a public hearing on budget measures in their weekly business meeting Tuesday.

The commissioners’ work session, at 9 a.m. Monday, will preview items set for action at their formal meeting, which starts at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The hybrid meetings are in the county commissioners meeting room in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.

Agenda items include:

• A call for bids for the courthouse electric vehicle charging station project.

• An amended agreement with the Department of Social and Health Services for up to $3,575,153 in funding to the county for providing services to people with developmental disabilities.

• An agreement with the state Military Department for renewal of an annual emergency management preparedness grant.

• A discussion concerning hiring and retention incentives for deputy prosecuting attorneys.

• A discussion regarding the schedule for relocation of Towne Road during the final phase of the Dungeness River Floodplain Restoration and Levee Setback project.

• A discussion regarding the 2023 request for proposals from the Housing Solutions Committee.

• Agreements with the Olympic Peninsula Visitor Bureau for $870,000 in lodging tax funds to develop their 2023 Olympic Peninsula tourism strategic plan and to promote year-round tourism.

• A memorandum of agreement with the Clallam Conservation District for $125,000 to provide renewable resource conservation planning and implementation.

• A notice of a public hearing at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 14, regarding the proposed auction of property at 4803 Nicholas Road previously seized by the sheriff’s office.  Jefferson County

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider, and possibly approve, requests for American Rescue Plan Act funding when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

The commissioners will continue discussion on an ordinance regarding courthouse security, discuss a proposed alteration to the Olympic Terrace 2 Phase II plat and conduct a workshop regarding the human resources department’s 2023 work plan.

Items on the consent agenda include agreements totalling $18,100 for youth cannabis and commercial tobacco prevention programs, an extension of the Restoration of the Chimacum Confluence memorandum of understanding with the North Olympic Salmon Coalition and an amended contract with Little River Enterprises for $9,000 to continue EnerGov database support through June 30, 2024.

Association of counties

The Washington State Association of Counties will hear a weekly update on COVID-19 when they meet at noon Monday.

Both Clallam and Jefferson counties will participate.
