EYE ON JEFFERSON: License for gun club to be considered

The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider a proposed revised license and operating agreement with the Jefferson County Sportsmen’s Association at a meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Under the terms of the revised agreement, the club would not allow armed forces to use the facility without prior written approval from the county administrator. It also would prohibit expansion of the facility or operations without the county’s written permission.

Commissioners at 10:30 a.m. will conduct a hearing on creating a new segment of the Olympic Discovery Trail form Discovery Bay to the Larry Scott Trail connection and from Four Corners Road to Anderson Lake State park.

At 11 a.m. they will conduct a public hearing on the draft public nuisance ordinance and continue deliberations on the 2019 amendment cycle final docket.

The county commissioners plan an outreach meeting with round-robin conversations at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Port Ludlow Beach Club at 121 Marine View Drive in Port Ludlow.

Elected officials will provide quick snapshots, according to the agenda, and the county administrator will prove an update on county business before the round-robin conversations on public issues and questions.

Board of Health

The Jefferson County Board of Health will conduct a public hearing on revisions to the solid waste handling standards code and a revised definition of junk vehicles when it meets at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

The board will meet at the Jefferson County Public Health Department at 615 Sheridan St., Port Townsend.

It also will hear an update on the syringe exchange program, a revised timeline for modifications of the county clean air ordinance to prohibit vaping in public places, efforts by Women, Infants and Children to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, state Department of Health guidance on closing outdoor public events because of unhealthy air quality, and about vaccine awareness campaign.

PT City Council

The Port Townsend City Council will consider candidates for the city manager position on Monday.

The council will conduct interviews in executive session with candidates in the morning and will consider at its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. which should be invited for finalists interviews on Tuesday.

Council members will meet in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St. At the regular session, council members also will conduct a public hearing on the Six Year Transportation Improvement Program.

Quilcene schools

The Quilcene School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The board will meet in Room 9 at 294715 U.S. Highway 101. No agenda had been posted as of Saturday.

Jefferson Transit

Jefferson Transit board members will conduct a public hearing on the transit development plan/transportation improvement plan when they meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The board will meet at the transit facility at 63 Four Corners Road.

They also will consider authorizing the general manager to buy a trolley bus for downtown shuttle service.

They will consider a resolution on debt management policy.

The consent agenda will include an interlocal agreement for West End service.

Public Utility District

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will consider water use efficiency goals when they meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The special meeting will be at 63 Four Corners Road.

Action may be taken.

The regular meeting will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the same place.

They will consider a request for a quote for a future meter project and an update on the low-income program.

A special meeting is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday for an audit presentation.

Jefferson Healthcare

Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will hear about an independent auditors report when they meet at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The board will meet in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room on the first floor of 834 Sheridan St.

Commissioners also will hear reports on finances and quality and from CEO Mike Glenn and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Joseph Mattern.

Development authority

The Fort Worden Public Development Authority Executive Committee will discuss the pier project when it meets at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be in Room B of Commons Building 210. The panel also will discuss glamping, Makers Square construction planning, branding committee and Greywolf Ranch.

Fire District 3

Clallam County Fire District 3 commissioners will consider an EMS levy lid resolution when they meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Commissioners will meet at 323 N. Fifth Ave., Sequim.

The also will consider the advance hire of a firefighter/EMT and a training program needs assessment.

The district covers the east side of Clallam County with a small portion in Jefferson County.
