The Port Townsend Planning Commission will consider a draft recommendation to be made to the City Council on amendments to the short-term rental code when it meets Wednesday.
The panel will meet at 6:30 p.m. in City Council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
The City Council will not meet in regular session this week. A quorum of council members may attend a groundbreaking ceremony for the Howard Street extension project Friday, but no business will be conducted.
The groundbreaking will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the intersection of Sixth and Howard streets.
Council office hours, during which members of the public can discuss any topic with a member of the City Council, take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday in the mayor’s office at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
Other city committee meetings, which will be in conference rooms at City Hall, 250 Madison St., unless otherwise noted, are:
• Council Finance and Budget Committee — 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, third-floor conference room.
• Parks, Recreation and Trees Advisory Board — 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, first-floor conference room.
• Climate Action Committee — 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Cotton Building, 607 Water St.
• Lodging Tax Advisory Committee — 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, third-floor conference room.
Port of Port Townsend
Port of Port Townsend commissioners will conduct a public hearing on procedures for implementing the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) when they meet in Quilcene on Wednesday.
The regular meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. in the Timberhouse Restaurant meeting room, 295534 U.S. Highway 101. A workshop will precede the regular meeting at 3 p.m.
Commissioners will consider approving the SEPA procedures after the public hearing.
They also will consider accepting work on the expansion of the Port Townsend Boat Haven ramp.
During the workshop, commissioners will discuss Quilcene holdings and budget goals.
Port Townsend schools
The Port Townsend School Board will conduct a budget revision public hearing before its regular meeting Monday.
The public hearing will be at 5:30 p.m. in Room S-11 at 1610 Blaine St.
The regular meeting will begin at 6 p.m.
The budget extension is for $15,117,665 in revenue and $15,015,437 in expenditures. It will be considered for approval during the regular meeting.
Also during the regular meeting, the board will consider participating in the city of Port Townsend natural hazard mitigation plan, policies for student conduct and classroom discipline, and contracts with the Port Townsend Education Association and School Health Consultants Inc.
Chimacum schools
The Chimacum School Board will hear a report from the superintendent on board goals and a district improvement plan when it meets Wednesday.
The board will meet at 6 p.m. in the library at the high school at 91 West Valley Road.
The board also will consider a policy on the language access plan and hiring three coaches.
An executive session is planned during the meeting.
Fort Worden PDA
The executive committee for the Fort Worden Lifelong Learning Center Public Development Authority will meet Tuesday.
The meeting will be from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. in the seminar room at Fort Worden.

County commissioners
The Jefferson County commissioners’ meeting originally set for Monday has been canceled.
Since two commissioners will be out of the office, the panel will not have a quorum.
A special meeting is planned Monday, Aug. 29. Regular meetings will resume Tuesday, Sept. 6.
