The Port Townsend City Council will conduct a public hearing and consider zoning law changes for medical and recreational marijuana businesses when it meets Monday.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers in historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
The council will address a recommendation by the Planning Commission about the potential zoning. It will consider approval on a first reading; final approval would come with a second reading.
If approved, the changes would end a city-imposed moratorium for the establishment of those businesses.
The council also is scheduled to approve a six-year transportation improvement program and discuss its 2014 water system plan update.
Council office hours, during which members of the public can discuss any topic with a member of the City Council, take place from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the mayor’s office at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.
No other city committee meetings are scheduled this week.
Jefferson County
The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider a resolution that encourages state government to create a more sustainable funding system for county government when they meet Monday.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
The item is on the consent agenda and will not be discussed unless a member of the public requests it.
The initiative from the Washington State Association of Counties says counties have only two sources of revenue that do not cover expenses, and they are challenged with a host of regulatory requirements that are increasingly complex and expensive.
In the resolution, the commissioners support the development of a plan to develop adequate and sustainable funding for county services.
Other items on the consent agenda include:
■ An allocation to the Quilcene Replacement Shop Project in the amount of $72,965.
■ An agreement to allocate $7,955 to the Snow Creek Road Culvert Replacement project.
■ An allocation of not more than $22,800 for the development of the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Comprehensive Plan update.
Port Townsend schools
The Port Townsend School Board will hear public comment before considering adoption of a 2014-15 budget when it meets Monday.
The public hearing will be at 6 p.m. and the regular meeting at 7 p.m. in Room S-11 at the Gael Stuart Building, 1610 Blaine St.
The proposed budget would allocate $13,955,720 to the general fund, $1,737,239 to the capital projects fund, $55,200 to the transportation vehicle fund, $60,723 to debt service and $389,968 to the Associated Student Body.
The board also will consider amending the 2014-15 school calendar.
Jefferson PUD
Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will update the district’s exempt personnel resolution and review its harassment policy when they meet Tuesday.
The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at 250 Chimacum Road, Port Hadlock.
An executive session is planned at 6:10 p.m. to discuss personnel.
Jefferson Transit
Jefferson Transit board members will conduct a public hearing on their Transit Development and Transit Improvement plans when they meet Tuesday.
The board will meet at 1:30 p.m. at the Port Townsend Fire Station, 701 Harrison St.
The board also will discuss whether the two Port Townsend City Council members who sit on the five-member Transit board should participate in discussions or votes about a purchase of real estate from the city.
Jefferson Healthcare
Jefferson Healthcare hospital commissioners will hear an emergency and specialty services project update when they meet Wednesday.
The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the hospital auditorium, 832 Sheridan St., Port Townsend.
