EYE ON JEFFERSON: Human resources manager update on county agenda

The three Jefferson County commissioners will hear an update on the recruitment of a human resources manager when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.

Commissioners will hear an update on COVID-19 from Dr. Tom Locke, public helath officer, and Willie Bence, emergency management director, at 9:45 a.m. followed by an update from Philip Morley, county administrator, on the recruitment of a human resources manager.

There will be a county administrator briefing session a 1:30 p.m.

Items on the consent agenda include an agreement to develop or expand shelter programs and an extension of COVID-19 services through December.

• The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, 3 p.m. Tuesday.

• The Civil Service Commission, 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

• The Council Housing Committee, 3 p.m. Thursday.

Board of Health

The board of health will consider a resolution declaring racism to be a public health crisis when they meet at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

The board will hear the Jefferson Healthcare report, the community health division report and discuss the New England Journal of Medicine editorial “Dying in a Leadership Vacuum.”

The meeting includes a public hearing on proposed changes to the environmental public health fee schedule.

The board will also receive a pre-adoption briefing on a proposed county enforcement code, a public hearing date will be determined later.

There will be a discussion concerning revisions to the basic sanitation code in regard to non-permitted living conditions.

The board also will hear COVID-19 situation report concerning changes to the state’s Safe Start WA plan and preparations for the flu season.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council will discuss the request for proposals and public process results concerning the Port Townsend Golf Club when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The council will discuss and discuss the 2020 supplemental budget, the 2021 preliminary budget and the 2021-2026 capital improvement plan.

The council will also receive an update on regional stormwater agreements.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will discuss boat ramp projects at Mats Mats Bay and in Gardiner during a workshop meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

There will also be a presentation concerning the Molo marina management software platform.

The commissioners will discuss a resolution for a comprehensive scheme of harbor improvements and a draft of the 2021 budget in a regular session at 1 p.m.

The commissioners will hear public comments on rates for C-D dock and discuss a contract with Molo for marina management and billing software. The consent agenda includes a resolution to auction various boats and approval of the grant application for the Mats Mats and Gardiner boat ramps.

Port Townsend schools

The Port Townsend School Board will meet in regular session at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Public Utility District

Jefferson County Public Utility District commissioners will hear presentations on meter replacement business case and the Quilcene water tank at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The FSC Group, LLC will present information on the meter replacement business case and BHC Consultants and Evergreen Coating, LLC will present information on the Quilcene Water Tank.

The commissioners plan an executive session to consider the selection of a site or the acquisition of real estate by lease or purchase.

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue

East Jefferson Fire-Rescue commissioners will conduct a special meeting at 3 p.m. Tuesday. The fire commissioners will meet in executive session to evaluate the qualifications of an applicant for public employment or to review the performance of public safety personnel.
