The three Jefferson County commissioners will consider allowing additional time to develop a proposal for updating the county’s critical areas ordinance when they meet at 9 a.m. Monday.
The meeting will be in commissioners’ chambers at the Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
Commissioners will consider the request for extension past the June 30 deadline from the Department of Community Development at 10:15 a.m.
At 10 a.m., commissioners will open bids for Dosewallips Road repair.
At 10:45 a.m., it will convene an executive session to discuss potential litigation.
Items on the consent agenda include:
• Extending the time for completion of a total compensation study by Cabot Dow Associates, Inc. The contract expires on March 31; this would extend it to June 30. No additional money would be spent.
• Declaring property surplus; each item is worthless than $2,500 according to the agenda packet.
• Adding 12 months to the contract for auctioneer services with James G. Murphy, Inc.
• Designating the Port Townsend-Jefferson County Leader the newspaper of record.
• An agreement to remove noxious weeds in some city parks with volunteers.
• A $25,070 contract with Christensen Inc., of Tumwater for construction of a power pack slab at the Jefferson County Transfer Station to support a new “grizzly” crane.
• A bid award for aggregate for the bituminous surface treatment program in 2018-19. The low bidder is Allen Shearer Trucking and Landscape Supply, Inc., of Belfair for $240,435, staff says.
Port Townsend City Council
A quorum of the Port Townsend City Council may be present at a town meeting on fire district annexation set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
This second of three public meetings will be at Fort Worden Commons Building 201.
The city meetings are on the question of the city being annexed into the East Jefferson Fire Rescue district Each has a different focus.
At Thursday’s meeting, City Manager David Timmons will present the finance and government services overview. Discussion will focus how annexation will impact the city’s finances and taxpayers.
The Port Townsend City Council has not scheduled a business meeting this week.
Other city committee meetings, which are in conference rooms at City Hall, 250 Madison St., unless otherwise noted are:
• Council Finance and Budget Committee — 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, council chambers, 540 Water St.
• Parks, Recreation and Trees Advisory Board — 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, first-floor conference room.
Port of Port Townsend
Port of Port Townsend commissioners will consider the 2018 capital plan when they meet in a public workshop at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
Commissioners will meet in chambers, 333 Benedict St. The workshop will be followed by a regular session at 5:30 p.m. to discuss reports on February finances and occupancy and operations.
Chimacum School Board
The Chimacum School Board is expected to discuss and possibly take action on extending the superintendent’s contract for an additional year to 2021 when it meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The meeting will be at Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road.
The board also will discuss its goals for the 2018-19 school year.
The superintendent will update the board on budget and levy communications, nutrition and physical education and collective bargaining preparations.
Jefferson Healthcare
Jefferson Healthcare commissioners will attend the Jefferson Healthcare Community Forum at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
The forum will be at the Port Ludlow Beach Club, 121 Marina View Drive.
At the special session, a summary of Jefferson Healthcare operations will be provided as well as an update on the Port Ludlow clinic.
No action will be taken.
Commissioners also will conduct a regular meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Victor J. Dirksen Conference Room, 834 Sheridan St.
They will consider open public meetings and public records, as well as hear reports on finances and quality.
Development authority
The Fort Worden Public Development Authority board will conduct a two-day retreat this week.
Wednesday will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday will be from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room C at Fort Worden Commons Building 210.
Wednesday’s retreat will include discussion of board roles and responsibilities and review of partner programs. Thursday’s agenda includes a discussion of the strategic direction for the next three years and the mission of a lifelong learning center.
