EYE ON JEFFERSON: County’s public hearings on commercial shooting set for Monday

Port to hear Point Hudson jetty proposal

The three Jefferson County commissioners will conduct a public hearing on extending an existing moratorium on commercial shooting facilities when they conduct a special meeting at 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be at the Commons building at Fort Worden, 200 Battery Way, Port Townsend.

A second hearing for two proposed ordinances will start at 2 p.m.

The proposals cover commercial shooting facilities under Title 8 of the Jefferson County Code under health and safety, and repealing and replacing Title 18 of the county code.

Both proposals are from the Jefferson County Planning Commission’s recommendations that were established Dec. 3.

Earlier in the day Monday, the commissioners will be briefed on a proposed new interlocal agreement with the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team (OPNET).

The discussion will take place during the regular meeting at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ chambers at the county courthouse, 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.

Port Townsend city

The Port Townsend City Council will hear a presentation regarding its regional stormwater facility when it meets for a workshop at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be in council chambers at historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

Council members also will discuss a franchise agreement with Wave Broadband.

Other city committee meetings this week include the Council Rules committee at 11 a.m. Thursday and the Planning Commission at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Port of Port Townsend

Port of Port Townsend commissioners will see a presentation about the new selected alternative for the Point Hudson jetty when they meet in a workshop Wednesday.

The regular session will begin at 1 p.m. in chambers, 333 Benedict St. It will be preceded by a public workshop at 9:30 a.m.

The presentation from the Point Hudson Jetty Engineering team will be provided in the morning session.

The regular meeting will include discussion about a proposed change order to the Jefferson County International Airport’s runway reconstruction contract with incentives for early completion.

Chimacum schools

The Chimacum School Board will discuss the Chimacum Creek Primary School improvement plan when it meets at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be at Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road.

Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue

The Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue Board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The meeting will be at Fire Station No. 31, 7650 Oak Bay Road.

A meeting agenda was not available by Saturday.

Quilcene Fire Rescue

The Quilcene Fire Rescue board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday.

The meeting will be at the Quilcene fire station, 70 Herbert Street.

An agenda was not available by Saturday.

Peninsula College

Peninsula College trustees will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday.

They will meet in the Cornaby Center on the Peninsula College Port Angeles campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

Trustees are expected to discuss a resolution to support the Port Angeles Waterfront Center.
