EYE ON JEFFERSON: County grant to PDA under consideration

The Jefferson County commissioners will consider a grant rather than a loan to the Fort Worden Public Development Authority at a meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. Monday.

To join the live Zoom meeting, go to https://zoom.us/j/93777841705. To watch the proceedings live with no participation, go to www.co.jefferson.wa.us and follow the links under “Quick links,” “Videos of Meetings,” and click on “Streaming Live.” For audio only, call 1-253-215-8782 and use webinar ID: 937-7784-1705#.

The PDA had asked for the county’s assistance in guaranteeing $378,000 in loans to refinance debt and resume full operations. Staff is recommending that a grant be provided instead of a loan, because of difficulties in providing a loan to the PDA. The issue will be discussed during the commissioners’ briefing session at 1:30 p.m.
